SHOW ME THE BODY ARCANUM

Arriving almost exactly a year after the release of the band's critically-acclaimed most recent album Dog Whistle, New York's Show Me The Body have shared the affecting video for their discordant album track 'Arcanum'. Constructed from some beautifully eerie footage taken in and around their home town, including shots of graveyard frolicking and the inner workings of a taxidermy studio, there's a sinister undercurrent to the clip that echoes the track's unnerving instrumentation. Co-directed by Brooklyn-based filmmaker and documentary photographer Landon Yost and Show Me The Body themselves, the physical film of the conceptual video is gradually burnt and destroyed as the track progresses, serving as a powerful metaphor. Yost explains: "The idea for 'Arcanum' originated from an experimental film I made 3 years ago. Since then I've been experimenting with the film burning process...The piece was very collaborative - the band and I fleshed out the moments and tableaus we felt were emblematic of what 'Arcanum' stands for. The burning process was the most challenging component. With the expertise of our friends at Negativeland I was able to dial in the precise style of burning we were after -- a complicated 12 hour, 4 person endeavor. It felt like the right final step; take everything we'd done and set it on fire." -Holly Mullineaux
